چکیده

Background. Malaria is a major public health problem in developing countries. In Ethiopian, the seeds of Schinus molle are used for management malaria. Therefore, current study aimed to evaluate vivo antimalarial activity hydro-alcoholic crude extract and solvent fractions Plasmodium berghei infected mice. Methods. An 80 percent methanolic were tested at 100, 200 400 mg/kg doses. The parasitemia level, packed cell volume, body weight, survival date rectal temperature anti-malarial extracts. One-way ANOVA followed by post hoc Tukey’s HSD multiple comparison test was employed result expressed mean ± SEM (standard error mean). Results. curative highest dose aqueous fraction 69.86% 73.82% ( p < 0.001), respectively. prophylactic test, had 72.39% 0.001) suppression activity. Among fractions, only chloroform significantly attenuated volume reduction. mice treated with longer than vehicle-treated 0.001). Conclusion. experiment finding showed that significant prophylaxis anti-plasmodial This revealed has promising against berghei. However, further confirmatory studies, isolation characterization active constituents recommended.

In vivo antimalarial activity of Ajuga remota water extracts against Plasmodium berghei in mice.

We investigated the in vivo activity of crude water extracts of Ajuga remota Benth (Labiatae) against Plasmodium berghei in mice using plants harvested from two areas in Kenya where the plant is commonly used to treat malaria. The extract was tested using a 4-day test at a dose of 30 mg/kg/day (equivalent to 0.2 ml solution per mouse). Wet leaf extract was the most effective with 90.4% suppress...

In vivo antimalarial activity of crude extracts and solvent fractions of leaves of Strychnos mitis in Plasmodium berghei infected mice

BACKGROUND Malaria is a major public health problem in the world which is responsible for death of millions particularly in sub-Saharan Africa. Today, the control of malaria has become gradually more complex due to the spread of drug-resistant parasites. Medicinal plants are the unquestionable source of effective antimalarials. The present study aimed to evaluate antiplasmodial activity and acu...

Antimalarial potential of Nosode 30 and 200 against Plasmodium berghei infection in BALB/c mice.

BACKGROUND & OBJECTIVES Homeopathy is considered as an emerging area of alternative medicine which could be established for the global health care. One of the greatest objections to this science lies in its inability to explain the mechanism of action of the micro doses based on scientific experiments and proofs. The present study has been undertaken to screen in vivo antimalarial activity of M...

Evaluation of antimalarial activity of leaves of Acokanthera schimperi and Croton macrostachyus against Plasmodium berghei in Swiss albino mice

BACKGROUND Malaria is one of the most important tropical diseases and the greatest cause of hospitalization and death. Recurring problems of drug resistance are reinforcing the need for finding new antimalarial drugs. In this respect, natural plant products are the main sources of biologically active compounds and have potential for the development of novel antimalarial drugs. A study was condu...

In Vivo Antimalarial Activity of Annona muricata Leaf Extract in Mice Infected with Plasmodium berghei.

Malaria is one of the most important infectious diseases in the world. The choice for the treatment is highly limited due to drug resistance. Hence, finding the new compounds to treat malaria is urgently needed. The present study was attempted to evaluate the antimalarial activity of the Annona muricata aqueous leaf extract in Plasmodium berghei infected mice. Aqueous leaf extract of A. muricat...
